The medium of watercolor is absolutely wonderful for creating illusions. You don’t have to paint every blade of grass or every leaf. The big idea here is to let the viewer fill in the blanks. I think it’s one of the things that separates art from photography. Whadda you think? This little painting was done on location as a demo. I love painting from nature and when I do this I think of it as a study. You should only try to complete about 75-85% of the painting. Take it back to the studio and look at it again. You can be more objective without having to compete with the actual scene.

Are you still there? I hope so. Your paintings are wonderful. You aren’t afraid of color. I am inspired.
I am too afraid to take risks but you got me thinking. Maybe I can do i.
Thanks
