A really interesting and fun project you might try is to take a poem/haiku and illustrate it. Several artists have tried this with great success. This watercolor is a wonderful example of what can be done by letting the words guide you. Selina is an especially gifted colorist. She has a way of incorporating her whole palette in a painting but not over doing it. This makes her watercolors very entertaining and exciting to view. This poem inspired the painting:
From nothing I grew.
In vast emptiness I flourish.
This morning
The sun kissed me.
