The values in this painting are just right. Not over done and a nice warm/cool counter-change in color. Very good composition in that it leads you up the stairs to a mysterious door. Especially cool is the way the trees are simplified and the shadows compliment them perfectly. Every stroke means something in this painting and it could easily have been overdone by a less skilled artist. This image is interesting, fresh and just right!
