Yes, it’s all about the shapes. Interesting shapes. Big shapes, small shapes, colorful shapes, textured shapes and so on. Just make them interesting and make sure the values work to support the shapes. There, I’ve said this for the 1089th time and probably will continue to do so. These things called shapes make an image interesting or not. The arrangement of these shapes have a lot to do with why you like one painting more then another.
