Watercolor is the perfect medium for capturing the essence of whatever you’re painting. It’s so immediate and fresh if you let it paint itself. This painting is a great example of using textures and values. I’m sure Selina was trying to capture the light and boy did she succeed. Such a sensitive effort. The next painting you do just try to capture the essence of the scene or subject. Don’t be so concerned with detail. Simplify. When you feel you’ve done that STOP painting. You’ll know it in your gut when you’ve reach that point. If you ask yourself if I add one more stroke will I make it better and the answer is no STOP painting!
