This artist came from the pastel side and slowly started using watercolor as an under painting. Shelly then started painting watercolors using pastel over them with great success. Pastel is a wonderful medium to add detail, bring back the lights or bring up or bring down color and value. Using pastel to finish the watercolor also give you the confidence to start a painting because you know you can always go back and change things. This is an excellent example of the combination of both mediums. The lost and found edges and the sensitive way this art was done is a testament to the artist’s ability to successfully capture her impression of the subject. Congrats!!!
I love your art and hope one day to take watercoloring classes. I believe art can relieve stress, help relieve inner feelings and what I’m most interested in–help those who are grieving.
It would be great if you could show more paintings that were created for art therapy purposes.
