This is a little demo from class that follows the 1. paint the mid-tones leaving the light/whites. 2. Paint the darks. 3. Paint the jewelry (detail). What I was really trying to show was how to start a painting. What do I paint first, second etc. Usually in watercolor you paint from light to dark because you can’t get the white paper back once you’ve painted on it. Yes, you can lift, or use body paint or pastel or mask. So planning a painting becomes more important at the beginning and that confidence lets you go wild and gives you the freedom to create and take advantage of the medium.
Hi Joe,
I love this demo for it’s freshness and minimalism, while following all the basics of good design. Wow! (as Lois said). If I can’t be in your class right now I can be inspired by this wonderful blog you’ve created.
Keep on truckin’!
