I don’t care how many times you’ve heard it you don’t have to be perfect with watercolor the first time. Watercolor is a tough medium and you can fix almost anything. One way is using a little pastel over your painting to kill a color or brighten it up. To keep the yellow and blue in the sky from mixing and making green I painted the sky in warm colors and added the blue using pastel. I also used a little hot orange in the foreground. Using pastel to finish gives you a lot of confidence at the start of your painting. Take one of your just OK watercolors (I’ve got a ton of those) and give it a try.
A gorgeous sky !!Thanks for the tip
this is beautiful
I’m new to it. What kind of pastel? Oil, watercolor,, do they make that?
Hi there… I just use a small amount of soft pastel. This lets me kill a color, bring up a color or make a blend to cover up a boo boo.
